It is important to get benefit of the solar gains that is why dining romos, kitchen, rest romos are facing southeast while bathrooms and storage romos are facing northwest
The skin of the house, apart from airtight must be very well insulated ir order to achieve a thermal independent atmosphere from the outside creating a “cave” effect. This is done with at least 25 cm of insulation in all opaque building components. Inside and outside finishes would be according to the customer’s preferences.
Airtightness of the house
The “skin” of the house must be continuou in order to avoid uncontrolled leakage through gaps and this can be measured with the “blowerdoor test” done twice in the construction. This must be smaller than 0.6 of the total house volume per hour during a pressure test at 50 Pascal (both pressurised and depressurised).
Absence of thermal bridges
A passivhaus house is termal bridge free design. All edges, corners, connections and penetrations must be planned and executed with great care, this way, heat and cold transfers from inside to outside are avoided . Thermal bridges which cannot be avoided must be minimized as far as possible.
High performance windows
The window are weak spots on the envelope, that is why frames must be well insulated and fitted with low-e glazings filled with argon or krypton to prevent heat or cold transfer.
Ventilation with heat recovery
Efficient heat recovery ventilation is key, allowing for a good indoor air quality and saving energy. In this house, at least 90% of the heat from the exhaust air is transferred to the fresh air again by means of a heat exchanger.
Apart of a heat Exchange, this ventilation system is the perfect solution to avoid contamination, humidity, allergies and to keep a perfect level of CO2 in the whole house.
It is used in the heat pumps and as a renewable energy, it uses the energy in the air to generate energy.
It can save about 75% in the energy consumption.
With this aerothermal energy we obtain hot water and we feed the radiant ceiling in order to get a hot or cold temperature.
This houses never gets cold or overheated. But in extreme days (summer, winter) and with the climate change, it is kept the house between 22 and 25º indepenedtly in every room. No sudden temperatura changes, no air flows.
Energy efficiency in a passivhaus saves almost 90% of the total consumption. It also has climate systems, the engine of the pool, electric car charger and so on. This is why our house is provided with a solar energy production system.
In the roof of the house, photovoltaic panels are installed to generate the necesary energy to consume during day light.
